Participants will be picked up at 2.00pm to leave for Soave by private transfer. Soave is located in an area of hills and gentle slopes that has always been an area for grape growing and the cradle of a glorious past, the signs of which can still be seen today.
Soave is an area of vineyards, boasts labels of international fame thanks to the excellent quality of the wine produced in the surrounding areas. In the afternoon the group will move to the nearby town of Val d’Alpone, where you can visit a modern winery covering an area of 7,000 square meters (21,000 sq ft) that contains the various departments for wilting grapes, producing, aging and also creating sparkling wine until it is bottled and stored.
Here you can taste the Soave D.O.C., Recioto and the typical Durello wine that will be served with appetizers and typical products that go with wine-tasting. Wine can be bought directly from the winery.
Venturing back into the heart of Soave you will come across numerous churches and buildings in different architectural styles such as the fourteenth century courthouse and the Scaliger Palace also from the 14th century, used under Venetian rule as a dwelling for the Captains of the Serenissimo, the Republic of Venice. Participants are free to have break in one of the local taverns or inns in the village, that will delight you with traditional dishes accompanied by a good wine like the eponymous Soave DOC wine or Recioto.
You will be free to stroll around the historical center that has all the characteristics of a medieval village from the enclosing walls to the tightly intersecting streets and finally the towering castle, one of the best examples of castle architecture in the Veneto region.
A visit to the courtyards of the Scaligero Castle, to its inner rooms and the imposing tower at the center of the court, will bring to mind great scenes of wars, battles and imprisonments typical of the times.
